American Society of Quality The American Society of Quality (ASQ) is a global community of experts and the leading authority on quality in all fields, organizations, and industries. ASQ is a professional association dedicated to advancing the professional development, credentials, knowledge and information services, membership community, and advocacy on behalf of its more than 85,000 members worldwide. ASQ documents can be purchased separately.

DSpace@MIT DSpace@MIT is MIT’s institutional repository built to save, share, and search MIT’s digital research materials. DSpace@MIT contains over 25,000 theses and an increasing number of conference papers, images, peer-reviewed scholarly articles, preprints, technical reports, working papers, and more. DSpace@MIT documents are available for free to IHS Goldfire users.

IEEE The IEEE, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, is the world’s largest technical professional society and a leading authority on technology-related matters ranging from aerospace systems, telecommunications and computers, to biomedical engineering, electric power and consumer electronics. The IEEE publishes 30 percent of the world’s literature in the electrical and electronics engineering and computer science fields, and has developed nearly 900 active industry standards. IHS Standards Expert IHS Standards Expert is a robust, easy-to-use standards management solution backed by the world’s largest collection of engineering standards and related documents from more than 370 standards developing organizations (SDOs) worldwide, including international, regional, national, local and corporate sources, plus key government and military agencies. IHS Goldfire users can subscribe to IHS Standards Expert or purchase documents individually.

The Institute of Physics The Institute of Physics delivers current and historical information covering the entire breadth of physics topics. IOP provides access to more than 340,000 research articles from 58 of the world’s leading research institutes, including the Journal of Biofabrication, the Journal of Geophysics & Engineering, and the Journal of Nanotechnology. IOP also provides: commentary from industry experts and academia; detailed analysis and opinion on current R&D, emerging technologies and commercial applications; and, in-depth interviews with leading authorities. The International Food Information Service The International Food Information Service (IFIS) is a leading scientific publisher in food science and related information. IFIS information covers science and technology, markets and companies, business news, legislation, statistics, patents, trademarks and designs, and consumer trends and issues. IFIS documents can be purchased separately.

International Union of Crystallography The IUCr is an International Scientific Union promoting international cooperation in crystallography, promoting international publication of crystallographic research, facilitating the standardization of methods, units, nomenclatures and symbols and forming a focus for the relations of crystallography to other sciences. IUCr documents can be purchased separately.

NASA Tech Briefs NASA Tech Briefs features exclusive reports of innovations developed by NASA and its industry partners and contractors that can be applied to develop new and improved products and solve engineering or manufacturing problems. Authored by the engineers or scientists who did the work, the briefs span a wide array of fields, including electronics, physical sciences, materials, computer software, mechanics, machinery/automation, manufacturing/fabrication, mathematics/information sciences, and life sciences. competitive strategies, patents, academic advancements, market shifts, breaking news, or their own internal product development. NASA Tech Briefs content is free to IHS Goldfire users.

OnePetro.org OnePetro.org is a multi-society library, operated by the Society of Petroleum Engineers, which provides access to broad range of technical literature related to the oil and gas exploration and production industry. OnePetro contains more than 85,000 documents. For many of its member organizations, OnePetro is the first online offering of their documents. Participating organizations include: API, ARMA, ASSE, ISRM, SPWLA, SPEE, SUT, the Offshore Technology Conference and the World Petroleum Council. OnePetro documents may be purchased individually.

OSTI OSTI is the Department of Energy (DOE) office that collects, preserves, and disseminates DOE-sponsored R&D results that are the outcomes of R&D projects or other funded activities that take place at DOE labs and facilities nationwide and grantees at universities and other institutions. The information is typically in the form of technical documents, conference papers, articles, and software, collectively referred to as scientific and technical information (STI). PubMed PubMed comprises over 20 million citations for biomedical literature from MEDLINE, life science journals, and online books. PubMed citations and abstracts include the fields of medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, the health care system, and preclinical sciences. PubMed is developed by the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI), at the U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM), located at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). SAE International SAE International is a global association of more than 128,000 engineers and related technical experts in the aerospace, automotive and commercial-vehicle industries. SAE International’s core competencies are life-long learning and voluntary consensus standards development. Access to the SAE International index and documents requires a separate agreement.

SPIE SPIE is the International Society for Optics and Photonics founded to advance light-based technologies. SPIE promotes emerging technologies through interdisciplinary information exchange, continuing education, publications, patent precedent, and career and professional growth. SPIE publishes the SPIE Digital Library, containing research papers from the Proceedings of SPIE and the Society’s 9 scholarly journals. Springer Springer is a leading global scientific publisher, delivering quality content through innovative information products and services, as well as a trusted provider of local-language professional publications in Europe. The SpringerLink content solution includes over 2,000 journals and more than 6,500 new book titles every year to supplement the existing backlist of more than 70,000 titles. Focus areas include: science, technology, medicine, business, transport and architecture. Access to the Springer index and documents, available in French, German and English, requires a separate agreement.

SpringerMaterials SpringerMaterials is based on the Landolt-Börnstein New Series, a fully evaluated data collection in all areas of physical sciences and engineering. SpringerMaterials also comprises the Dortmund Data Bank Software & Separation Technology, a Database on Thermophysical Properties and the Linus Pauling Files, a Database on Inorganic Solid Phases and chemical safety data. Access to the Springer Materials index and documents requires a separate agreement.

Techniques de L’Ingenier Techniques de L’Ingenieur represents the largest collection of scientific and technical literature in French. Each year, the editorial team publishes hundreds of records, the equivalent of thousands of pages PDF, assisted by over 150 external scientific advisors. Topics range from Industrial Computing, Measurement Analysis, Quality and Safety, Embedded Systems, Metrology, Nanotechnology, automation, sensors, and a broad range of analysis techniques. Access to the Techniques de L’Ingenier index and documents requires a separate agreement.

University of Washington ResearchWorks at the University of Washington is a permanent, safe service for providing access to articles, technical reports, datasets, images and other file types produced at the University of Washington by faculty and researchers. ResearchWorks contains more than 15,000 works in a range of communities including Dissertations and Theses, Faculty and Researcher Data and Papers, Student Research Papers, and the University Libraries Collection. ResearchWorks abstracts and documents are available for free to IHS Goldfire users.

IHS Technical Web Collection This collection provides a pre-indexed subset of over seven million documents from both Deep Web sites (World Wide Web content that is not part of the Surface Web) and the Surface Web. These sites include scientific and technical information from government, academic, commercial, and professional databases and documents that cannot be easily accessed by conventional web searches. The Technical Web Collection content is free to IHS Goldfire users.

IHS Scientific Effects Use the IHS Goldfire Scientific Effects tool to browse and search the Scientific Effects database, which includes cross-disciplinary scientific effects, with examples of their practical industry applications. IHS Goldfire Scientific Effects help to stimulate creative problem solving by enabling you to search and browse over 9,500 illustrated scientific theorems, laws, and phenomena. Inventive Principles Use the IHS Goldfire Inventive Principles tool to browse recommendations for the best approach to resolving contradictory requirements in your system design. Inventive Principles are abstract guidelines that can help you solve problems that arise from contradicting requirements in a system design. System Modification Patterns Use the IHS Goldfire System Modification Patterns tool to browse recommendations for modifying a system configuration to optimize interactions between system elements or to optimize measurement techniques. Analysis of thousands of patented technologies shows that there are patterns in the way modifications are made that consistently produce a certain kind of improvement—for example, in efficiency, durability, or cost.
