Tackling the Big Data Challenge / Opportunity
Posted on Thu, Dec 15, 2011
Big Data is here – and its getting Bigger.
According to the latest IDC Digital Universal Study, more than 1.8 zettabytes of information will be created and stored in 2011. According to IBM, more than 2.5 quintillion bytes of data are created each and every day – and this data is expanding rapidly as companies capture more and more data in greater detail, social media outputs continue to explode, and more transactions and information is shared over the Web in a vast array of formats.
More information means more challenges making sense of all that data. And the problem isn’t going to get any easier. Analysts project that the amount of data generated worldwide is expected to rise 40% annually—or eight times faster than IT spending.

Big Data is a hot topic right now and lots of companies are rushing to address the storage, privacy security, access and deployment of Big Data.
But one of the greatest challenges Big Data presents is the ability to glean meaningful insights from and make meaningful connections between all of the various data points and inputs.
The Internet has democratized knowledge, giving experts the ability to publish high fidelity information and corporations are racing to leverage it. There’s more useful data around the world in multiple languages both inside and outside enterprises.
Invention Machine’s advanced semantic search capabilities help organizations separate the ‘wheat from the chaff’ in order to capitalize on the tremendous innovation opportunity Big Data presents.
